Schools Morning Prayers for Lent 1
From Psalm 42
Like the deer that yearns for running streams so my soul is thirsting for you.
Like the deer that yearns for running streams
so my soul is thirsting, so my soul is thirsting,
Glory to the Father, glory to the Son, glory to the Holy Spirit now and for ever. Amen.
So my soul is thirsting, so my soul is thirsting,
Let us pray
Father of us all, as we celebrate Lent
we thank you for all you give us
and we offer you this day with generous hearts
through Christ our Lord. Amen.
|Short Reading Deuteronomy 7: 6, 8-9|
It is you that the Lord our God has chosen to be his very own people out of all the peoples on the earth.
Know then that the Lord your God is God indeed, the faithful God who is true to his covenant
and his graciousness for a thousand generations towards those who love him and keep his commandments.
We pray that we may so love our families and friends
that we pray for them each day of Lent. Lord, hear us
We pray that during Lent
we may be able to do without something
and be able to offer it to God. Lord, hear us
We pray that being aware of the needs of others
we may be generous to them. Lord, hear us
Our Father, who art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses
as we forgive those who trespass against us,
and lead us not into temptation But deliver us from evil
Let us pray
Lord, during Lent, let us find the strength we need
to live up to the dignity you have given us as your children,
and to support others when they need our help.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Blessing: May the Lord bless us, and keep us from all harm,
and may he lead us to eternal life.
